General Information
The Caldwell Parish School Board governs the public schools of Caldwell Parish, which serve more than 1600 parish children in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12. The Board consists of representatives from seven parish wards. Public meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month and include the board members and school superintendent. The board president leads the meeting, following an agenda that is published in advance and provided to attendees. Meetings are held at the School Board Office, located at 7112 Hwy. 165, Columbia, Louisiana. The board's three-member executive committee meets prior to each board meeting and presents their findings at the meeting. Executive committee meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. and the Board meeting follows at 6:00 p.m. Members of the public who wish to address the board must complete and submit a request card before the meeting begins.
Equipment, furnishings, and vehicles owned by the school board are from time to time auctioned off through a public bidding process. Notification of the availability of items for bid is made through the local newspaper, the Caldwell Watchman. Sealed bids are submitted to the School Board and are opened, read, and acted on at the Board Meeting on the designated date.
Individuals seeking employment in the Caldwell Parish School System can download and complete the application for employment found on this website or can contact the school board office for the application. Completed applications and other necessary items are submitted to the school board office and then disseminated to school principals.
