Description
JOB GOAL:
To assist students in developing the foundational skills necessary for a successful transition from the school environment to post-secondary education, vocational training, or employment. This includes providing support for students to acquire essential pre-employment and independent living skills, while also fostering self-advocacy and a strong work ethic.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific Duties: may include, but not limited to supporting students in gaining knowledge in the areas of (depending on individual student needs and as appropriate to each student): job exploration, self-advocacy skills needed to promote success for independent living, vocational training that transfers into work-based learning activities.
Support students in maintaining tracking for activities for Pre-employment Transition Services (Pre-Ets).
Provide opportunities to transfer Pre-Ets skills to the classroom and work-based learning sites.
Develops and maintains a professional position when working with students, teachers, and other staff members.
Maintains a professional position when carrying out job responsibilities (observe professional ethics and prescribed by the employee's profession and in accordance with the state law and board policy).
Maintain confidentiality regarding all personal information and educational records concerning children, youth and their families. Teacher assistants must refrain from accessing, discussing or disclosing anything outside the scope of employment.
Performs physical demands requiring regular and frequent lifting, carrying, transferring or pushing objects or wheelchairs weighing at least twenty-five (25) pounds. Physical demands may also include walking or standing to a significant degree, kneeling, bending etc.
Maintains good public relations between the community and the school.
Sets a good example for students by attitude and conduct.
Adheres to all CPSB policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate authority.
All employees are subject to Drug/Alcohol testing in accordance with policy.

Requirements
College Degree
Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science
48+ College Credits (minimum 6 in Math, 6 in English, 3 in English Composition)
Para pro Test (450 minimum score
